Chapter 4 - Part 3Taeir curled into a dive, unfurling his wings a few feet above Haru and Kasumi. "The tree line is just ahead!" he yelled through wind and sheets of freezing rain, "Keep going!" The two of them had been running in the dark ever since they could hear it, but now the downpour was all around them. They were soaked, frigid, and fighting a strong headwind on their last legs. Taeir struggled through the rampant winds with heavy feathers, but at least he could see where they were going.

Chapter 2 - Part 2Kasumi rolled to her stomach and dragged herself closer to Haru. He began nuzzling her affectionately and timidly licking her face, not sure if he was doing so because it was more natural or because he thought it would be. She returned his love in the same manner, the two of them just happy they were still together; still themselves. For the moment, that was more than they could have asked for.

Chapter 3 - Part 3For a few seconds Haru watched as a total of four baskets were pulled into reality from this small wire apparatus, and alongside his wonder and efforts to understand how it worked played a few mental scenarios of what might be within these wicker containers. He imagined the one for Taeir would contain some mice or other small animal, likely still whole and slightly charred, maybe skinned or with the fur removed. For Crevan, he visualized a rotisserie rabbit, or perhaps a roasted animal leg that still had a foot. Chapter 3 - Part 2A restless morning's sleep later, the mid-afternoon sun once again pierced Haru's eyelids between waving leaves and his dreams slipped from his grasp. Reluctantly, his eyes opened, flickering light blinding him as they tried to focus on the tall grass he was lying in. If nothing else, he was grateful he wasn't tied up this time. He yawned silently and stretched out along the ground, laying on his side having been the only way he could fall asleep. Kasumi was curled up against his chest, one ear bent awkwardly against his foreleg. He smiled and gently nuzzled the back of her head, affectionately giving her ear a lick that set her tail wagging

Chapter 3 - Part 1"So then these won't let just anything talk, but they work for 'sentient' creatures." Once again Haru restated Crevan's explanation. Years of misreading implied messages had made doing so second nature, often to the point of annoying himself. Crevan had already explained that the crystal and chain he kept with him was an amplifier for using magick on this side of the Veil, the technique he used with the crimson smoke was called a 'Shroud,' and that the easily angered hawk was his partner, the two of them doing everything from initial exploration to playing emissary for an alliance on the other side of the Veil.

Chapter 2 - Part 3"So you do know about it. That makes things simpler. For the most part you're right. You two," he vaguely nodded his head at them, "changed because the 'Veil,' as you call it, has weakened, and this area happened to weakened more. I know what a lot of the adamic theories are, so I'll set you strait now. The Veil has many names, but in essence it divides the halves of the Earth, and more importantly disrupts energy.

Chapter 2 - Part 1 Haru didn't know who to watch: the armed men across the room or the fox close enough to smell; not that he could have done anything about either of them. In a few seconds they would be discovered hiding in plain sight, then bullets would fly and they would never have stood a chance; hell, he would never even stand. As fate would have it, the beam of the closest man's light caught the fox, and Haru's eyes shut tightly. With a little luck and a LOT of typing, I may eventually have many small series under the Edge of Dawn title, but for the first, here's the gist of it:

The first book details the "Fall of the Veil," or the force that divides the human, mundane world from the world in which mythical creatures exist, Otherkin/Therians have bodies that match their spirits, and magick is more than parlor tricks and slight-of-hand. The first book follows a young married couple, one a Therian Wolf and her husband an Otherkin Kirin, both currently human and living on the mundane side of the Veil.

Due to predictions, prophesies, ect., that are currently circulating around the world, they expect the Veil to fall, among various other things, but when it actually happens, both worlds way of existence come apart as Myth and Magick meet Man and Machine. However, the ensuing inevitable conflicts are only the surface story.

There's a deeply hidden history to be revealed, the origin of the Veil and it's creators, and much darker plot is working below the surface: the rebirth of a forgotten war between Lemuria and the Atlantis.
